Masoud Kamalahmadi
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Science in the University of Miami's Herbert Business School, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Health Management and Policy. I earned my PhD in Operations Management and Decision Sciences from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
My research advances a human-centered perspective on service operations. Using large-scale field data from healthcare and retail settings, I investigate how workers, customers, and organizations interact within the operational constraints of service systems. Using these framework, I have been able to address a range of important societal and managerial questions such as:
What is the ideal workload for hospital physicians?
How do digital health technologies reshape patient and physician behaviors?
What happens when access to care expands faster than physician capacity?
How can physician incentives be better aligned with patient outcomes?
How do unpredictable work schedules impact worker productivity?
How to design fair and accurate performance evaluation systems?
